Support to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop its capacity in implementing ODA projects 2The UNDP will support the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop its capacity to implement ODA-funded projects. The programme is intended to support Romania’s efforts to become a lead donor of development assistance in the priority countries and regions of Romania’s international development cooperation policy. The programme implementation is also part of the larger objective to better define the niche areas in which Romanian ODA can be most effectively channelled and to set up the institutional framework of the Romanian Training Centre for Post-conflict Reconstruction that will ensure the sustainability of efforts in this area.
Project BackgroundAfter joining the EU in 2007, Romania upgraded its former status as a Recipient of Official Development Assistance (ODA) country, to that of a Donor state with a perspective to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) both nationally and globally, the latter by delivering development assistance to low and medium income countries. Project ObjectivesThe general objective of the project is to develop the capacity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to implement ODA-funded projects, to help better define the niche areas in which Romanian ODA can be most effectively channelled and to support setting up the institutional framework of the Romanian Training Centre for Post-conflict Reconstruction that will ensure the sustainability of efforts in this area.
