Energy and EnvironmentLaunched in 1992, the Small Grants Programme (SGP) of the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) started in Romania in 2004. Currently offered in more than 100 countries, this programme complements the regular and medium-sized GEF project funding. GEF SGP supports activities to secure global environmental benefits in the areas of biodiversity conservation, climate change, international waters, sustainable land management and persistent organic pollutants through community-based approaches that also generate local benefits. In order to build its project portfolio, GEF SGP receives Project Concepts continuously and helps the project proponents to meet the eligibility criteria while developing their full project proposals that will enter the competition. The Country Programme Strategy in English can be downloaded by clicking here, and the short version of the Strategy in Romanian can be downloaded by clicking here.
