Completed projects

Electronic Information Communication, Dissemination of Materials and Counseling on HIV / AIDS for Young Men and Women between the Ages of 15-25 provided information and confidential advice to young people about HIV /AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Unwanted Pregnancies, through the www.sexdex.ro website.

Support to the HIV / AIDS Strategic Planning in Romania and Pilot Projects on HIV Prevention among Vulnerable Groups project contributed essentially to the establishment of a National HIV/AIDS strategy, involving the maximum number of stakeholders. A number of best practice models on HIV prevention among vulnerable groups (MSM, CSWs, Roma Ethnic) were made available. Different NGOs were assisted to strengthen their capacity to plan, mobilize resources and implement activities related to HIV prevention. Furthermore, the project contributed to increasing the capacity of different ministries to responds to HIV/AIDS through developing HIV prevention operational plans.

Social Assessment of Roma and HIV/AIDS in Central-East Europe , a study commissioned by UNDP Romania and the Center for Health Policies and Services, with financial support from Open Society Foundation . The research at the basis of this Assessment was carried out in 2002-2003 in Bulgaria, Moldova, Slovakia and Romania, under UNDP regional project RER/01/001 ("Partnerships against HIV/AIDS"). Continuing Medical Education on HIV/AIDS for healthcare workers - Distance Learning Modules (through Internet, CD-ROM and printed version) supports the National Plan for Continuous Medial Education (CME), by addressing the learning needs of healthcare workers on HIV/AIDS, with particular emphasis on prevention, and on the impact of HIV/AIDS on those affected.

Multi-media Information Campaign in Schools and High-Schools, on HIV/AIDS and related issues addresses the need for promoting health education on HIV/AIDS and related issues, as part of the regular curricula in Romanian schools, in support of the recently launched National Programme for Health Education.
